These are some examples of display ads I have worked on over the years with various clients. Most include animated ads, while a few campaigns only called for static ads. Some of them I designed and coded, on others I collaborated with other designers to implement their static mockups into final animated pieces.
I have worked with enCOMPASS Agency on many of their display ad campaigns. These are a few samples; they are usually based on a general templated design that I then tweak to accommodate the content and graphics for each specific campaign (or monthly offers, in the case of the auto dealership clients). Occasionally there will be an animated gif requested as the backup file instead of a static jpg, as can be seen below with Elite Solutions and in the case of the 320x50px mobile sizes.

These are examples from 3 separate campaigns. For each of these the initial static graphics and a basic storyboard were provided by a designer, then I animated and exported the banners and sent them to Duke Energy’s media buyer to be deployed.

These ads are based on a drafts created by Tattoo Projects, an agency I have done some work with. They supplied the direction for the individual layouts and I then created the animation for the final HTML5 files.

These all accompanied larger multimedia campaigns that called for static ads only. There was some crossover between the display ads and other social media ads for all of these, including some animated pieces that were used primarily across LinkedIn and Facebook.
Rotam is a crop protection company in the global agricultural space, which has since been acquired by Albaugh Group. Among other projects I have worked on with Stratagon was this banner ad campaign for Hinge, one of Rotam’s products. They wanted something that would catch the viewer’s eye, starting with the concept of “shutting the door on weeds.” This project only called for static ads, there were no accompanying animated versions.
These animated HTML5 ads were developed to promote Sunbrella’s Shade Studio campaign. The original artwork consisted of only one previously-created animated gif, so I had to extract single frames of each shade option and then re-purpose and edit them in order to be able to create the multiple, differently-sized and proportioned ads. I created a starting frame with no shade and one with a shade outline, and then implemented the shadow effects for a more realistic look as the rest of the animation progressed.

I’ve worked with the in-house team at Bizleads to freshen up some text-heavy static ads they have created, which then ran on The Business Journals’ various web properties in 40+ markets across the U.S. (BizLead’s parent company).
Years ago when I first started professionally as a designer, I worked with the BGEA as a contractor on some of their display ad campaigns before I joined the digital department as a full-time employee. These are re-created HTML5 versions of old Flash animated banners. Some of these campaigns promoted the monthly TV Specials, and included banners designed for television broadcast that ran the TV Guide Channel (and other similar television listings channels).
